How Qonto scaled accounting & invoicing integrations in Europe with Chift

Qonto, the French-born fintech serving over 600,000 SMEs and freelancers across Europe, uses Chift to offer plug-and-play accounting and invoicing integrations. With Chift’s Invoicing Sync and Expenses Sync, Qonto pulls customer and supplier invoice data directly from users’ accounting tools, enabling robust spend management, reconciliation, and analytics with minimal setup and no maintenance on Qonto’s side.

Scaling frictionless integrations experiences
Qonto’s mission is to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and startups. Its product brings together banking, payment cards, invoicing, and expense management into a single digital cockpit. To offer users better insights and control over their spending, Qonto needed to access accurate accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) data directly from the accounting and invoicing systems their customers were already using.
“Our vision is a financial cockpit. Not just banking and transactions, but everything around it. Invoices, receipts, payments, all reconciled and ready for accounting.” Fanny Laverty, Lead Product Manager, Qonto
The challenge wasn’t just technical. Qonto had to manage:
- Wide tool diversity across markets (France, Belgium, the Netherlands, …)
- Varying customer use cases, from freelancers to SMEs
- Limited internal bandwidth to build and maintain dozens of connectors
- The need to uphold Qonto’s signature UX quality and reliability
“We always ask: should we build this, or partner? That depends on cost, team bandwidth, ease of integration. And most importantly, user demand.” Fanny Laverty, Lead Product Manager, Qonto
Chift’s Invoicing and Expenses Syncs
Qonto chose Chift for its comprehensive and maintenance-free integration layer. Through Chift, Qonto delivers key data synchronization experiences to its users.
Zero-development integrations thanks to Chift Syncs
Chift allows Qonto to automatically pull sales (AR) and purchase (AP) invoices, including PDFs and metadata, directly from users’ accounting and invoicing software such as Zoho, Sellsy, Hubspot, Odoo, and more. This data populates Qonto’s platform with client and supplier invoice records that fuel reconciliation, analytics, and spend insights.
“We collect customer and supplier invoices automatically thanks to integrations like Chift. That’s what allows us to reconcile and prepare the accounting efficiently.” Fanny Laverty, Lead Product Manager, Qonto
Seamless setup via OAuth2
Technically, the integration experience is clean and simple. In Qonto’s integrations section, users click on the connector they want. They are redirected to Chift’s onboarding flow where they authenticate only the target tool. Qonto already identifies them through its OAuth2 system, meaning users don’t have to re-enter Qonto credentials.
“Today, when we want to add a new connector, it’s as simple as pasting a link. I add the connector to the Marketplace in 15 minutes and boom, it’s live.” Fanny Laverty, Lead Product Manager, Qonto
Each integration is deployed as a dedicated OAuth2 app, so Qonto can track usage and performance individually by connector. This setup also simplifies maintenance, monitoring, and analytics.
Scalable growth and best-in-class UX
Thanks to Chift, Qonto offers deep, reliable integrations with key accounting and invoicing tools while preserving internal focus on its core product. The result is a win across users, product teams, and long-term platform scalability:
- Seamless UX for Users: no extra login needed — Qonto credentials pass invisibly
- Multi-Market Coverage: Qonto uses Chift across multiple European markets
- Connectors include Sellsy, Zoho, Hubspot, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and more to address country-specific software preferences
- Minimal Setup and Maintenance: no development work needed to launch new integrations
- Internal teams maintain control without complexity
- Supports automated accounting workflows, a growing customer demand, & contributes to an impressive NPS score of 75
“Once the relationship with Chift was set up, it’s been very smooth. We sync on Slack, we meet every two weeks and everything just works.” Fanny Laverty, Lead Product Manager, Qonto
